Welcome to open events

A very warm welcome to Sponne School Technology College.

This year is starting well but what a superb one we had last year.  Our students gained the highest set of GCSE results the school has ever seen including the critical 5A*-C including English and mathematics (63%) and 79% gained 5A*-C grades, up 8% on the previous year.  Our A level results continued to improve further to even higher levels.  These results continue to put us well above national averages.  Well done to all our students.

In addition to the excellent examination results, a whole range of other activities took place last year to support our curriculum.  Our Year 7 choir got to sing in Birmingham in a massed choir event that will not be forgotten in a hurry and two school concerts, that are always tremendously popular with tickets selling out within a few days, that were tremendous!  Our school show of "West Side Story" was just marvellous.  On the sporting field we were very successful and our students have performed to a very high standard.  There were numerous other events including residential visits at home and abroad and day visits complementing our enhancement programme of activities.

Our Open Evening for prospective Year 7 students will take place on Wednesday 14th October.  Please note the change in arrangements from previous years.  We look forward to seeing you on this evening.

Our Sixth Form continues to grow with more students than ever now studying we us.  We have our Open Evening for the Sixth Form on Thursday 4th February and this is an excellent opportunity to look in more detail at our very wide range of courses and talk to members of staff.  In the past, parents and students said that they found this a very helpful evening.  If you wish to apply for a place, please use the links above.

Following parental requests, we have now been able to provide transport from Daventry and Newnham in collaboration with Northamptonshire County Council.  We developed this further with transport now being provided from Buckingham and the surrounding area following requests from parents.

I am delighted to announce that we have been confirmed as a third-phase Specialist Technology School; this represents a marvellous opportunity for Sponne School Technology College to develop in response to the particular needs of our community and, above all, our students.

As ever, there are many events, concerts and residential visits taking place at Sponne; please look at our diary pages for further information.  In addition, we must always remember that the focus for this part of the academic year must be engaging in good learning so that all our students are inspired and enabled to achieve their potential.
